Here’s a thought that occurred to me this morning…

For an organization to spend more resources and effort on advertising than they do on customer experiences and developing colleagues is just like spending more money on the invitations than you do on the event.

The dean of American professional speaking, the late Dr. Kenneth MacFarland, would always tell a business that he had noticed their “invitation” in the newspaper, or heard it on radio or TV. When they would say, “You mean our advertisement?” He would respond, “All an advertisement is, is an invitation for me to come. Now, it’s YOUR turn to deliver!”
