My good friend, Joe Bonsall, sent me a note this morning about a new video from his group — the world-famous Oak Ridge Boys.
If you happen to be a fan of country music, you’re aware of Jamey Johnson, winner of the Country Music Association award this week for writing the year’s best song, “In Color.” (He also performed on the show’s telecast on ABC-TV with Kid Rock.) Seems that Jamey is a HUGE fan of the Oak Ridge Boys — and wrote a song called “Mama’s Table” that only they could bring to life.
On this blog, we share a lot of comments and insights with one another regarding the importance of the personal connection…and, the fact that compelling experiences are created when we touch emotions.
When I wrote my first book, “ALL Business is Show Business” many years ago, it was based upon the notion that the entertainment industry already understands that you have to MOVE your audience…through laughter, tears, fears, or some other emotional connection. If the rest of the business world came to the same conclusion, we would all be more successful.
If you grew up anything like I did, this video will touch you. The powerful and incredible style of the Oaks, combined with Johnson’s compelling song, may bring tears to your eyes, like it did to mine.
What if we could make the kind of connection like this song does — and the Oak Ridge Boys do every night — to our audience? I think our growth would be remarkable…
…and…when this song moves you as much as it touched me — please pass it along to your family and friends.
