“It reminds me of the story that Bruce Wilkinson, CSP shares about a the impact a professional speaker can have versus a celebrity speaker. Bruce was brought in to do a breakout at a convention where they had a movie star as the keynote. The meeting planners were in touch with the movie star's agent and confirmed all his details and logistics. The night before the morning keynote,the movie star did not check into the hotel, and the next morning he was not there an hour before the speech. The meeting planners found Bruce in his room preparing the room for the breakout after the opening session. The meeting planners asked Bruce if he could do the keynote if the movie star didn't show up, and Bruce said he could. At 9 am Bruce went on stage and hit a Home Run! Later that day the meeting planners called the movie star's agent and were told that the movie star had forgot! It was not what he did for a living and in his mind, it was simply pick up money! That is why meeting planners need to hire professional speakers who make them a priority, not an after-thought!!!!”
